VMA-231 Commanding Officer
Lieutenant Colonel Timothy G. Hudson

LtCol Timothy “Ralphie” Hudson enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1994 and served in PMOS 5952, Navigational Aids Technician, with Marine Air Traffic Control Detachments.  He ended active service as a Sergeant in June 1999 to attend the University of Southern Mississippi.  He graduated with a  Bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice in December 2002 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 13 Dec 2002.

After completing the Basic School in Oct 2003, 2ndLt Hudson entered flight training at NAS Pensacola, Florida with follow-on training at NAS Whiting Field, Florida with VT-6. He was winged as a Naval Aviator on 13 Jan 2006 at NAS Meridian, MS. After completion of flight training with VT-7 he reported to Marine Attack Training Squadron 203, Cherry Point, North Carolina, for training in the AV-8B Harrier.

Following qualification in the AV-8B in April 2007, 1stLt Hudson was assigned to Marine Attack Squadron 211 in Yuma, AZ. While assigned to the Wake Island Avengers he served as Squadron S-1 Officer, Powerline Division Officer, Quality Assurance Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. In Jan 2009 he deployed to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa and Iwakuni, Japan.

In June 2010, Captain Hudson reported to MCB Quantico, VA to attend resident Expeditionary Warfare School.  After graduation in May 2011, he reported to the Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), to serve as the Fixed Wing Company Grade monitor with Manpower Management Officer Affairs (MMOA-2).

In June 2013, Major Hudson reported to Marine Aircraft Group 13, Yuma, AZ to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer.  In Sept 2013, Maj Hudson reported to Marine Attack Squadron 211, while there he served as the Operations, Maintenance and Executive Officer.  During this assignment he deployed to the CENTCOM AOR with SPMAGTF 15.1 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

In June 2016, Major Hudson reported to the Deputy Commandant for Aviation to serve as the Fixed Occupational Field Sponsor with Aviation Manpower Support (ASM).  While there he was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for LtGen “Dog” Davis and LtGen “Stick” Rudder from Feb 2017 to Mar 2018.  In June 2018, Major Hudson reported to Marine Attack Squadron 542 where he served as the Maintenance Officer and in April 2019 he reported to VMA-231 where he served as the Maintenance and the Executive Officer.

LtCol Hudson has accumulated over 1300 hours in the AV-8B.  His Professional Military Education includes Honor Graduate Sergeant’s Course and Command and Staff College, non-resident.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Strike/Flight with Numeral 4, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
