Sergeant Major Britton enlisted in the Marine Corps on 25 May 1999 and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. He reported to the School of Infantry-East for his Primary MOS School and graduated as an Infantry Rifleman (MOS 0311).
In his PMOS, he served as a fire team leader, squad leader, section leader, platoon sergeant and platoon commander during assignments with 3d Battalion, 8th Marines and 2d Battalion, 6th Marines.
He served as a canvassing recruiter and SNCOIC while assigned to Recruiting Station Columbia, SC.
His tours as a First Sergeant include: Inspector-Instructor Staff, Detachment Two, Supply Company, CLB-453; Mobility Assault Company and Headquarters & Service Company, 2d Combat Engineer Battalion.
He currently serves as the Sergeant Major for Marine Attack Squadron-231, Ace of Spades.
His deployments and operational experience include: Operation Secure Tomorrow 2004; Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005; Operation Enduring Freedom 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal x6, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal x6 and the Combat Action Ribbon x3.
